[Users] Agenda for Mar 09, 2017 - Thursday's conference call is available for editing

Jorge,

Thanks for the updates and links.

A couple of fast questions on the UI.
Is the new UI just image/graphic updates basically?
Will it be optional or the new base UI for ZCS?
Is it licensed specifically or does it fall under the current CPAL one for ZCS UI?

Could you share a little more details on the "new API" and " Ephemeral Data"?

Thanks again,
Adam

Hi Guy, David, guys,
It was really great to see you today. I hope you enjoyed the event, it was so great to me. I even had the chance to share all the work we've done since I've started as a PM, which is since January, so:

    * Universal UI - As promised the Gallery link is up, but the bits will be uploaded to play during COMMIT - [ https://www.zimbra.org/extend/items/view/beta---universal-ui | https://www.zimbra.org/extend/items/view/beta---universal-ui ]
    * Zimbra Desktop v7.3.0 - [ http://info.zimbra.com/try-zimbra-desktop-7.3.0 | http://info.zimbra.com/try-zimbra-desktop-7.3.0 ]
    * Zimbra Chat - Available in OS and NE in March 30th, Technical Preview during COMMIT
    * Zimbra Drive - Available in OS and NE in March 30th, Technical Preview during COMMIT
    * New S/MIME - Available in NE in March 30th

Additionally to this we have a lot more for internal Platform like:

    * Talks about all the new API work we are doing
    * SIEVE Support integrated
    * Ephemeral Data
    * IMAP role separation of the Mailbox (this can be more Technical Preview)

So! A lot of good things in just so short time, we still have a lot to do and to improve, but I know that together, Community, Partners, Customers and Synacor, we can achieve the perfect state for everyone.

Thank you for coming today, and see you soon!

Hi David,

thank you first for the presentation (and sorry to have missed it) and thank you for your feedbacks.
I really appreciated to discuss with all the people (you, Jorge, Synacor team ...) and I think all the
questions that have been risen today will find a path to Synacor.

I saw the new UI (not the awful video projection) and I am very enthusiasm about it.
Thank you Jorge to have shared this moment with us.

And in case you missed it , the new Zimbra Desktop is out for beta test here (another announcement from Jorge at Zimbra Forum France):
http://info.zimbra.com/try-zimbra-desktop-7.3.0

Regards,

Hi guys,

I'm on the train back home.

The Zeta Alliance presentation went extremely well.
20-30 peoples were here, mostly VARs/BSPs and some ZCS admins of
"big" platforms (>100'000 accounts - I guess some university).

The presentation was one of the first in the afternoon, the
"official" Synacor presentations happened in the morning.

The overall audience return was "I'm glad this presentation happened,
it's the most re-insuring and interesting since this morning: now we
know there are people officially joining forces around ZCS to
enforce the F/LOSS advocacy/movement and be heard by Synacor".

Eve of Synacor was in the room and ended up on stage with me for the
Q/A session.
She took the bullets from the audience (8.6 end of support, 8.7
released while very buggy, no visible enhancements, bugzilla/JIRA,
etc).
She acknowledged they did not do well for a couple of years, that
F/LOSS was now really at the heart of their strategy for Zimbra and
that they are very happy the Zeta Alliance exists so there's
"someone" representing the community to talk to/exchange with.

Questions about the Zeta Alliance were about:

. how to stay independent while supported by Synacor
. the legal status of the Alliance ("users group?", "association?",
"users club?", "something else?") (*)

. where do I sign (the charter and/or another official paper) to be
part of the Alliance and join the forces/give our support (*)

. can we contribute (as VAR/BSP) and give the Alliance our own bits
of development/scripting so other people can use it (and we can use
other people's)

(*) these questions were asked by people representing big users
platforms (university or public/gov, I don't know) who want to show
officially they support the Alliance and are part of it.
Their idea seems to give the Alliance more weight/power in its
communication by listing its members.

I also had a quite long exchange after the presentation with some
guys who have Ideas/needs and money to spend on developments
(zimlets) but don't know who to ask while they want to give the
zimlets to the community (this seems to be a problem with some
software company in France, both too expensive and not willing to
dev for the community even if paid for it).

I saw Jorge but was unfortunately not able to meet/chat with him 8-/

Same for Erynn.

If I didn't live in Michigan, I would invest in some portal solar
panels for these events. They happen a lot in Michigan because of
the trees.
