I can sympathise with that point of view.  I just do not think that is an
encouragement for Synacor to fully embrace the open source model.  Let them
be a part of a change to a more open source approach from the beginning.
They have already started to move in that direction, and Zimbra employees
have been encouraged to be active in the alliance.

Remember that trust is a two-way street to give results.  And we need to
build that as we go.  Synacor have started to move in the right direction,
lets not do anything which jeopardizes that.  We need to show some faith
that we believe they want Zimbra to more like a proper open source project.
 If they fail, then we can move things over to Zeta Alliance until it gets
resolved again (hence the mirror).

The important stuff these days are generally found in git repositories,
which is easy to mirror and push out elsewhere in parallel.
