Hello Mark,

While I do not have stats, I know the LibreOffice document preview is a heavy cpu
eating process. As far as Zimbra WebDAV Client goes, it expects LibreOffice to be
installed on the same mailbox server... you can imagine if a lot of people start clicking
documents, a lot of resources go to LibreOffice.

Also I marked it as `Experimental` in the installer, as it is basically a bash script wrapper
around libreoffice to converts from and to files in /tmp.


All in all, it really never felt good enough to remove the `Experimental` label, and I never
deployed it on a server with more than 20 people on it. It works, but maintenance wise
it does not really make me happy.

The new OnlyOffice implementation is a whole other story. You can configure Zimbra
WebDAV Client to use OnlyOffice in a docker, wherever that docker may be, with docker
compose you can even cluster the thing. And the best part is, the mailbox server stays
clean (no scripts/temp files or whatever). Its just a JavaScript include and when the
user clicks a document, that document is transmitted to OnlyOffice over the wire.

All in all, that means there is 0% load on Zimbra, and it scales, because of the docker-compose
that is supported by OnlyOffice. It should also be maintenance friendly as it is all nicely separated.
And should be risk-free, as you can turn it easily on or off.

All in all I believe it is a much better solution, and its also open-source
GNU AFFERO GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 3

And it renders Microsoft Office documents better than LibreOffice.

I will be rolling the OnlyOffice to my company (700 users) as soon as some resource are available
for the docker, so we can finally have document preview.

The LibreOffice integration is not removed, and can still be used, even combined with OnlyOffice
to have the most features.

Hello All,

Today I released a new version of Zimbra Nextcloud / WebDAV Client (0.9.5).

The new release allows to preview documents with OnlyOffice. That way
the preview is more precise for docx, xlsx and pptx documents.

The OnlyOffice should also scale better for larger environments as
opposed to the LibreOffice document conversion.


In addition a bug was fixed in the handling of uploads, where 0-byte size
where uploaded to some Nextcloud/ownCloud instances.
