Hello Mark, 

On #1, a confirmation email is sent to the user to confirm subscribe/unsubscribe to avoid misuse. 

On #2, the Mailing Lists shown to the public, are the ones that are enabled by the admin. So in the admin 
page the option `users at zetalliance.org` would enroll you to the `users at zetalliance.org` DL. 

At least, that is the idea.

This is awesome! 

Two questions please: 

1. Most mailing lists to which I belong have some sort of subscription verification mechanism. IOW, to prevent a bad-intentioned user from subscribing someone else to a list on their behalf, without their knowledge. This also helps to confirm that if I really wanted to subscribe, that I didn't fat-finger my email address (if I did I'd never get the confirmation email and I wouldn't be subscribed to the list). 

2. In your example, it looks like the mailing list is comprised of two Zimbra Distribution Lists. If I subscribe to the mailing list, to which Zimbra DL will I then belong?

Hello All, 




The next alliance crowd-funder, will be about adding mailing list functionality. 

I looked into Sympa and Mailman, and while I think integrating these is possible 

it would be a rather large undertaking and potentially one that would drag on 

for some time. 

Therefore I am thinking about using Zimbra distribution lists and extend those with mailing 
list functionality. 




Here is the gist, so we can talk about it during the call: 




New page in the Admin UI allows administrators to customize the public subscription 
management page and to select what distribution lists to use. 









New public subscription management page will be served from the Zimbra server, the enabled lists will be shown 

automatically: 





When a user clicks for example `Devel` or `Users` they will see a form to subscribe/unsubscribe from the clicked list. 


A confirmation email is used for subscribe/unsubscribe.

When distribution lists are used in a sub-domain, aka lists.zetalliance.org a Domain level disclaimer can be added to point users to the subscription management page. A how-to will be added to the readme.

L ist archive will not be implemented, suggest to use Twitter API or such .
