Since I did not knew 2 years ago, you can use something other than hard paths in Zimlets: 
https://github.com/Zimbra-Community/owncloud-zimlet/issues/11 

Following the steps in the wiki will remove _dev/ ...

Do I only need to zip the folder tk_barrydegraaff_zimbra_openpgp 
in the github project to deploy it as usual ?

There is also the part where I have not used the zip files for over a year, that means 
it just more work for me.... and also- no one tests the zips prior to release. 

So I just abandoned that effort for now at least.

I understand this but this is not a problem from your code nor from Zimbra. 
I know that Zimbra cache is sometime hard to reset ;-)

Since Dec 13, 2015 version 1.8.3... I stopped using it to avoid people having cache issue and 
reporting those as issues on Github. 

You can still make them yourself: 
https://github.com/Zimbra-Community/pgp-zimlet/wiki/Building-ZIP-for-use-with-zmzimletctl 

But, the git install method will in time be replaced by a deb/rpm install method.

Hello Everybody, 

I am proud to announce the 2.2.0 release of Zimbra OpenPGP Zimlet. It adds support 
for encrypted attachments, compatible with Thunderbird/Enigmail. And this has been 
integrated as far as possible in the Zimbra webmail.

Reply/reply-all decrypted message.
