Wow, Barry! That seems pretty ambitious.
For our use as a mailing list, there would need to be a few additional
capabilities beyond what you describe. (Noah added some of what I was
going to say before I could finish this) See below...
> When a user clicks for example `Devel` or `Users` they will see a form to
> subscribe/unsubscribe from the clicked list.
We would need the option to have the list open for subscriptions or not.
> A confirmation email is used for subscribe/unsubscribe.
In addition, we would need the ability to require administrator approval
for new subscriptions.
> List archive will not be implemented, suggest to use Twitter API or such .
We would need to have an archive of the list. Perhaps it could be done
similar to the e-mail archiving with amavis. Going on what Noah has in
his e-mail about archiving, I was thinking that an archive account with
automatic read-only sharing with subscribers and optional public sharing
might be sufficient. That would also address one of my main gripes about
mailman; the lack of any archive search capability.
I pretty much agree with everything else that Noah suggested.
I look forward to the discussion about this today.
Wendell
