Any particular reason why to prefer the upstream owncloud
repositories?  My experience from earlier on with the upstream repos
is that they don't follow the packaging guidelines for Fedora (thus
indirectly RHEL/CentOS) very well ... which later on can lead to
breaking stable systems.  EPEL packages mostly are better in this
regards, as these packages configured by users with experience in
Fedora packaging.

I understand using upstream repos when the EPEL ones are much more
outdated.  But currently EPEL have quite an up-to-date version of
ownCloud.  I recently installed ownCloud 9 on SL7.2 just using EPEL,
and it works very well.
