Hello David,
In your example it probably is not needed, however, it is possibly there to support ZeXtras and WebDAV to have different versions of ZAL.
Anyway, you could play around with it and report back your findings.

Wonderful! I'm now getting a few steps closer :)
I've read through your install script ... and I wonder if there are
some redundant lines here:
cp "zal-${ZAL_VERSION_EXTENDED}-${ZIMBRA_VERSION}.jar" \
/opt/zimbra/lib/ext/ownCloud/
cp !(zal*).jar /opt/zimbra/lib/ext/ownCloud/
cp *.jar /opt/zimbra/lib/ext/ownCloud/
The last line does exactly the same as the two previous lines, right?
And as I have zextras installed on my server, I see that zal.jar is
already located under /opt/zimbra/lib/ext/zextras ... I'll admit I'm
no java person, so I do not fully understand the jar deployments,
dependency chains and all that. But is it really needed to have
zal-1.10.6 installed twice on a system, just in different directories?
