I have quite recently had a contract reviewed by a US legal advisor,
which had a sentence very similar to what I see in this contributor
"You provide to us an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive,
royalty-free, unlimited, worldwide, and unconditional license ..."
The US legal advisor I which reviewed my contract had the following to
say about "irrevocable and perpetual" commitments:
"Perpetual and irrevocable licenses cannot be granted under US
copyright law due to the termination right in the US."
That's something you probably need to verify.
I would probably suggest getting this first through a legal review at
Software Freedom Conservancy, FSF, or some similar organisation with a
legal capacity. Most of the BSD/MIT are GPLv2 compatible, but there
are some exceptions. IANAL, so it's hard for me to be more concrete.
But one resource is the list of approved licenses in Fedora:
But my general sentiment towards contributor agreements are also not
so much in favour of such agreements. I personally avoid projects
with contributor agreements by default.
